A US jeweller has donated a gold ring to help the cause of an HIV and Aids charity.

KT Diamond Jewellers has given a 14-c white gold ring - with a retail value of $1,000 (£613) - to the Regional AIDS Interfaith Network (Rain) of Central Missouri.

It is in aid of the charity's 14th annual Wine & Art Benefit Gala and the ring is to be auctioned to raise funds for the cause.

The organisation works to combat the issue of Aids by focusing on education, compassionate care and early detection.

Its goals include lessening the destructive impact that diseases such as HIV, as well as other life-threatening conditions such as hepatitis C, can have.

Rain also offers advice to the medical community on the best resources available to people coping with these conditions.

Meanwhile, a gold coin donation will go towards helping the Riding for the Disabled centre, cadets and high school at the Cowra Home Expo, held on Ocotber 25th in Australia.
