Glamorous celebrities such as Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Lopez and Jessica Biel favour avant-garde gold jewellery from Missoma, it has been claimed.

According to Jewellery-weblog, designs in 18-c gold and above by the English mother and daughter design team have been worn by the Hollywood stars in the past.

Described as "bold, colourful and directional designs that are always stylish and effortlessly elegant", the collection features an 18-c gold winged necklace with claw amethyst and an 18-c wings of love claw ring.

The website stated that the inspiration behind the avant-garde designs lies in art of the early 20th century, as well as cultures from around the world.

Another growing jewellery trend was noted by the Times of India recently.

It said that an increasing number of young people are choosing gold jewellery that is related to their religion, with designs featuring gods and goddesses the most popular items.
