Evolving Gold has revealed that it has defined a large halo of gold mineralisation around the high grade zones at its Rattlesnake Hills project in Wyoming.

The Canadian mining company previously reported coherent high grade gold mineralisation of 2.92 g/t gold over 146m and 2.74 g/t over 131m in holes 65m apart.

All of the drill holes in the North Stock target intersect long intervals of halo gold mineralisation and "confirm the large potential size of the North Stock target".

Dr Quinton Hennigh, Evolving Gold president and chief geologist, said: "The co-existence of high grade gold zones with large volume of low-grade is common in similar large alkaline gold systems such as Cripple Creek in Colorado."

The Rattlesnake Hills project is a volcanic hosted alkalic gold system similar to other volcanic complexes in the Rocky Mountain alkalic gold province.

Vancouver-based Evolving Gold has a total of eight properties in the western US, including a lease agreement with Newmont Mining for four prospective gold properties within the Carlin gold trend.
