Geology of gold deposits studiedThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Monday, 22nd December 2008 (965 views) An academic in Sweden has carried out a study into how gold is formed in the Faboliden Orogenic deposit in the north of the country.Glenn Bark has written a dissertation on the gold line that has formed in the area and his research has proven useful to prospectors. The region was relatively unexplored for the existence of the precious metal but now it is viewed as an "up-and-coming" gold district, according to the Swedish Research Council. Mr Bark said that in his study, he strove to understand "in purely geological terms" why the gold occurs at certain points in the bedrock. "In Faeboliden, we can use that knowledge to find new gold fields in areas where nobody ever looked for gold," he explained. Recently, Gold-Ore Resources revealed that it had experienced the largest quarterly gold production level to date at the Bjorkdal gold mine in Sweden.
