The Ugandan government has announced that it has granted an exploration licence to United Global Agency to explore gold in Rugombe.

Under the agreement, the Kampala firm will search for gold in a 2km area of Kyenjojo District, the Sunday Vision reports.

James Byamukama, District LC5 chairperson, stated that local people will benefit from increased employment as a result of the exploration licence and potential gold mining in the area.

Ugandan energy minister Daudi Migereko has issued the gold exploration licence on behalf of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development.

African Aura published the results of its Phase One 1,500m drilling programme at the Kambele gold prospect earlier this month, revealing that it plans to conduct follow-up drill testing after 3.77 g/t gold was identified over nine metres.

The 100 per cent-owned property is located in the Batouri area of eastern Cameroon and the company had defined a potentrially significant mineralised zone.
