Friday, 23rd January 2009 (1090 views) Four Australian Oscar winners are to be presented with 24-c gold stamps in the run-up to Australia Day, it has been announced.Geoffrey Rush, Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett will be presented with the gold stamps by the Australia Post at events across the country as a way of recognising their achievements. The gold gifts will be exact replicas of a new set of 55 cent (26p) postage stamps featuring each of the celebrated actors. Managing director of the firm Graeme John said: "The stamps will be a constant reminder of the indelible mark they have made on Australia's identity and culture." Blanchett added that she is "intensely proud" to have been picked by Australia Post to appear on a stamp, stating: "I am utterly, deeply humbled and chuffed." Elsewhere, a gold ring presented to Charles Dickens by Alfred Lord Tennyson is to be auctioned next month and is expected to fetch between £25,000 and £35,000.
