Meadows Museum in Dallas, Texas is exhibiting gold jewellery as part of a new show that focuses on Etruscan art and society.

The Light on the Etruscans: Fifteen Years of Excavation at Poggio Colla exhibition runs from January 25th to May 17th 2009 and highlights the findings of a recent archaeological project at a religious sanctuary and Etruscan settlement in the Mugello Valley, near Florence, Italy.

Almost 100 items excavated from Poggio Colla will be on show at the Southern Methodist University museum, including offerings discovered buried around the altar such as women’s gold jewellery.

The jewellery represents some of the few examples of gold dating from the Etruscan period found outside tombs and comprises three sets of crescent-shaped earrings and a pair of large gold earrings shaped like grape clusters.

In the UK, a gold signet ring belonging to a town benefactor is being displayed at Beccles Museum in Suffolk, according to the Advertiser24.
