Wednesday, 28th January 2009 (1648 views) A unique gold pin and a fine gold sewing needle engraved with tiny letters in the early 20th century are to be auctioned online.Master engraver Godfrey Lundberg took three years to write the 65 words of the Lord's Prayer on the head of the gold pin, which he completed in 1915. Mr Lundberg constructed special equipment to complete the task and the finished article was an attraction at the 1915 San Francisco Exposition. The sewing needle is also engraved with tiny text, displaying the letters US - an abbreviation of the United States. Bidding for the two rare items begins at $1.5 million (£1 million) and will last until mid March. Those keen to claim the minute objects sooner than March can purchase them for a buy-it-now price of $3 million. Earlier this week a gold coin was sold at auction by Lockdales of Ipswich for £20,000, despite a guide price of only £10,000. The solidus coin dates from 830 to 850AD and was found among the possessions of a Norfolk man who passed away recently.
