Friday, 20th February 2009 (1017 views) A sculptor has carved a miniature replica of an Oscar out of 22-c gold.Willard Wigan created the tiny version of the iconic academy award in the eye of a needle, with the statue standing at 0.25 mm high, the Nottingham Evening Post reports. The item is now on display alongside other items by Mr Wigan in Nottingham's Friar Lane Gallery. On display at the city centre venue until March 31st, the Oscar figure took Mr Willard 672 hours to create. The real Oscars contain more gold than any other trophy, the sales manager at the factory that produces them recently claimed. Noreen Prohaska of RS Owens in Chicago said the Oscars contain 24-c gold, although she had "never told anyone" the actual value of the statues, the Daily Mirror reported this week. "I always say they are worth millions to whoever gets them," she commented.
