Workers at an equipment firm have been presented with gold rings to mark ten years or more of service.

According to RW Moore Equipment Company, employees have been honoured this year for periods of employment of up to 30 years.

The US business, which is an authorised dealer for construction, compact, forestry and mining equipment, has conducted a gold ring ceremony for its tenured staff since 1987.

Based in Raleigh, North Carolina, the company was founded in January 1962 after Mr Moore made the decision to switch from construction contractor to John Deere dealer.

In other news, the Southern Steel netball team in New Zealand is offering the chance for one fan to win an 18-c gold ring crafted by jeweller Russell Coats of Coats and Schuck in Windsor this season.

The competition for the ring is open to all Southern Steel netball fans purchasing a platinum pass for the trans-Tasman championships this year and the winner will be announced in April.
