Wednesday, 25th February 2009 (1455 views) A new report aiming to investigate the uses of nanotechnology in medicine has been commissioned, it has emerged.Nanomed, which is to be funded by the European Union (EU), will examine issues such as ethics, regulation, communication, patient attitudes and economic implications, the A to Z of Nanotechnology reports. The study is to be carried out by experts from across Europe and will be chaired by Sir John Beringer, who also headed up the UK CST report on nanotechnology. "Even if we don't see the nanorobots of Fantastic Voyage fame for a few years, nanomedicine still has immense short-term potential to impact all of our lives," he stated, adding that he is "delighted" that the EU has recognised the need for a "strategic approach" to the development of the technology, which often involves the use of gold. In related news today, it has been announced that Prague is to host this year's EuroNano Forum, which is to be attended by 1,000 experts, theCzech News Agency reports.
