UK conference to focus on nanosensors

A conference to discuss the use of nanotechnology in the creation of a new generation of sensors it to be held in the UK next month, it has been announced.

The one-day event, which will take place at the Natural Physical Laboratory in Teddington, will focus on applications of nanosensors in the areas of security, health and environmental monitoring, Nanowerk News reports.

An exhibition showing examples of the technology, in which gold is often used as a component, will also be held at the venue, with director of research science at Lockheed Martin Dr Brent Segal giving a keynote speech.

Head of nanomedicine at the Institute of Nanotechnology Dr Richard Moore will also be speaking.

Admission to the conference and exhibition - which take place on March 26th - is free, but interested parties will need to pre-register their attendance.

In related news, it was recently announced that a cross-government group focusing on developing the use of nanotechnology in the UK has been formed.
