Monday, 23rd March 2009 (744 views) A number of Italian jewellery firms are targeting Middle Eastern countries in an effort to boost their sales during the recession.Graziella Grou, which produces between 2.5 and three tonnes of gold jewellery every year, has began designing larger items specially made for clients living in the region, Reuters reports. "The size and dimension of the jewels are significant and in line with the aesthetics preferred in Arabic countries," the company told the news source. And speaking at the OroArezzo trade fair, designer Laura Falcinelli of Falcinelli Italy Jewelers stated that the Middle East is suffering the least from the faltering world economy, adding: "We very much hope that Arab countries will give a boost to our [sector] sales". Dubai is set to host the Salon Prive Haute Joaillerie jewellery fair later this year, which will see designs from leading jewellers and watchmakers on show in the emirate.
