Tuesday, 24th March 2009 (666 views) Comedian Mat Horne is selling the 18-c gold watch he received as a gift for hosting this year's Brit Awards, it has emerged. The actor, who appears in the television series Gavin & Stacey, has put the timepiece up for sale for £4,500, less than half its original price of £9,295, the Mirror reports. He plans to donate any profits from the sale to the charity Mencap, however as he is still the owner of the item he will have to take it back if a buyer cannot be found. The watch, which is engraved with 'Brit Award 2009' on the reverse, has been put on the market at jewellers Austin Kaye, which will retain a proportion of the money received from the sale. Earlier this month, it emerged that a gold watch once owned by Abraham Lincoln contained a secret inscription inside the casing, which was believed to have been added by watchmaker Jonathan Dillon at the start of the US Civil War.
