Wednesday, 25th March 2009 (1955 views) A total of five new galleries have been unveiled at the National Archaeological Museum in Athens, Greece, with objects now on display including gold jewellery.Part of a re-exhibition programme at the museum, the new halls house over 2,500 objects and the grand opening of the galleries took place last week in the Greek capital. Located in a wing of the museum, which was the Numismatic Museum from 1946 to 1998, the Vases and Small Objects Collection features a number of items that have never been placed on public show. Displayed as a distinct category, the Vlastou-Serpieri Collection includes ancient pieces of goldsmithing from Greece and Taranta, Italy, including jewellery demonstrating fine craftsmanship. In other news, gold produced in Turkmenistan has gone on display at an exhibition in Moscow as part of an exhibition entitled Textile, Carpet and Jewellery Products of Turkmenistan - 2009, according to the Turkmenistan newspaper.
