Results from 11 exploration holes at Ventana Gold's "flagship" La Bodega project in Colombia have been unveiled.

One excavation at the La Mascota zone of the area was said to be "of particular note" by the firm, as it returned figures of 8.66 g/t Au over 57.4 metres.

Other significant results include 4.89 g/t Au over 13.4 metres, 4.4 g/t Au over 5.2 metres and 12.51 g/t Au over two metres.

In total, Ventana has now completed 105 core holes covering 25,457 metres at the project, which is situated in the California-Vetas gold mining district in the north-west of the country.

The company has commenced a new drilling programme for 2009 in the area to carry out further tests on the gold mineralisation.

In related news, Greystar Resources has stated that it expects to produce a yearly amount of 511,000 ounces of gold from its Angostura project in Colombia.
