Tuesday, 31st March 2009 (875 views) Firstgold has poured the first gold dore bar from its Relief Canyon mine in the US, the company has announced. The firm produced 13.62 ounces of the precious matel following the processing of carbon at the facility, something that has been described as a "milestone" by founder and chief operating officer Scott Dockter. He added that production at the site in Nevada "officially makes Firstgold a gold producing company with a revenue source", but cautioned that the quantity "is not indicative of regular run rates". And the announcement was also welcomed by chief executive officer Steve Akerfeldt, who noted that the organisation is set to make progress over the next 12 months, having spent the past two years investing $16 million (£11.2 million) in constructing a processing facility at the mine. Production at the facility first began earlier this month, with the first shipment of carbon arriving for processing on March 5th.
