Kirtilals has launched a series of gold offers to mark the Hindu festival Akshaya Trithiya this year.

The Indian company is giving away a half gram gold coin with every purchase made over R30,000 (£407) between April 22nd and April 29th 2009.

No making charges and wastage for gold coins will be applied by the company over the Akshaya Trithiya festival. During the annual event it is believed that gold purchases bring luck, success and prosperity.

Chennai-based Kirtilals, which specialises in fine gold jewellery, has made the promotion available across its exclusive showrooms.

Kirtilals Kalidas Jewellers is a manufacturer and retailer with seven stores across south India, including its flagship showroom in Coimbatore and a custom designing service for wedding jewellery.

Meanwhile, Sandeep Kulhalli, Tanishq vice-president of retail and marketing, told DNA India that gold sales are expected to rise ahead of Akshaya Tritya on April 27th.
