A rare Polish gold coin dating back to the 1920s is to go up for auction in Rosemont, Illinois, it has emerged.

The event, which begins today (April 23rd) and runs until April 25th, will see over 3,000 lots go under the hammer, Numismaster reports.

Produced in 1925 by the Warsaw Mint, the five zlotvch (£1) coin is an "Adaption of the Constitution" gold pattern and is limited to a maximum of just four pieces.

Also on sale at the event, which is being held at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare hotel, is a Chinese gold coin dating back to 1912 that weighs over 8g.

"We are very pleased to be able to bring such an outstanding selection to our annual Chicago auction, with such strong coin and currency offerings," Richard Ponterio of organisers Ponterio & Associates told the news source.

The event offers some "truly exceptional highlights", he added.

Elsewhere in the US, a gold pin is expected to sell for up to $8,200 (£5,500), at an auction in Massachusetts this weekend.
