Capella Resources has announced that it has commenced drilling on its wholly-owned Nevada gold project in the Maricunga gold belt of Chile.

The firm is planning a minimum of 1,200m of drilling with three core drill holes, the first of which has reached a depth of 80m.

Capella Resources reported that drilling is "progressing well" and weather conditions "continue to remain favourable".

The drill programme will test for magnetic and induced polarisation geophysical anomalies and Major Drilling Chile has been contracted to drill three core holes to depths of up to 400m.

Comprising seven exploration and exploitation claims covering around 1,900 hectares, the Nevada gold project lies near Kinross's Maricunga gold mine and Exeter's Caspiche gold-copper property.

Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Capella Resources is listed on the TSX Venture exchange and is a junior exploration and mineral development company with a portfolio of projects in Chile, the US and Canada.
