A sword made of pure gold is the prize for the winner of an annual camel race in Qatar.

The Emir of Qatar will present the prize to the winner of the Annual Purebred Arabian Camel Race.

It is currently taking place and will continue until April 30, organised by the Hejen Race Organising Committee.

Qatar National Bank (QNB) is sponsoring the race, in which Gulf-originating pedigree Arabian camels participate.

It is the sixth consecutive year that the bank has given its sponsorship to the competition.

Furthermore, the bank will provide another prize to the victor – a 2009 Mercedes-Benz S500.

The race is being held in Al Shahaniya.

The chairperson of the QNB is Youssef Hussain Kamal, who heads a board of directors that includes eight other members.

Earlier this month, the bank began a new loan payment system for customers with salaried accounts there.
