Thursday, 30th April 2009 (1638 views) More than 50 Pre-Columbian gold artefacts are being sold as part of an auction taking place over the internet.The Asian, Ancient & Ethnographic Works of Art Auction has been organised by online art auctions specialist iGavel and runs until May 12th 2009. Gold items for sale include a Costa Rican avian-form pectoral ornament dating from 800-1550AD, hollow cylindrical beads from a similar period and a gold zoomorphic figure set as a brooch. Items can be viewed at the iGavel gallery on East 120th Street in New York City and include a pair of gilt-decorated black lacquer armchairs, a Chinese Bronze Dagger from the Shang Dynasty and two 18th century China trade paintings depicting the tea harvest. In other news, a rare Polish gold five zlotvch coin dating back to 1925 has been auctioned in Rosemont, Illinois, as part of a sale of more than 3,000 lots, Numismaster reported.
