Gold watches pay tribute to 1920s styleThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Wednesday, 20th May 2009 (1517 views) Longines has launched a new special-edition range of gold jewellery watches that evoke the "charm of the 1920s".The Les Elegantes de Longines 2009 range consists of a series of three designs with oval, rectangular and almond-shaped silhouettes representing the Three Graces. Featuring shaped gold cases set with precious stones and hand-decorated with art deco motifs, the timepieces mirror those created by the Swiss watchmaker in the early decades of the 20th century and just 20 pieces of each design will be produced. The collection is the eighth tribute to the art deco movement from Longines and each item is based upon a re-examination and modernisation of creations dating from the 1920s. Launched in 2002, the Les Elegantes de Longines collection is updated every spring with new models capturing "the delicacy and fineness of the art deco spirit". Longines was founded in St Imier in 1832 and is a member of the Swatch Group, with outlets in more than 130 countries around the world.
