Thursday, 21st May 2009 (1438 views) A-list stars attending the 58th Cannes Film Festival this year have been spotted wearing items of gold jewellery.Supermodel Eva Herzigova appeared on the red carpet in a gold Atelier Versace gown and elaborate Chopard chandelier gold earrings. British actress Rachel Weisz wore a lime green shift dress and Cartier gold bangles to promote her new film Agora, set in Roman Egypt, in which she plays astrologer-philosopher Hypatia of Alexandria. The 24-c Palme d'Or, which is the top award at the festival, is made by Swiss jeweller Chopard and many Hollywood stars choose to wear items by the company each year. Speaking to the Scotsman, Chopard spokeswoman Celine Roques said: "The Academy Awards are just one night - the Cannes Film Festival is 12 nights. During that time, we can do up to 80 loans [of jewellery] to celebrities." Chopard items worn at past Cannes Film Festivals will be displayed in Edinburgh in June this year and will also be available to purchase from Laing's jewellery shop in the city.
