Wednesday, 27th May 2009 (733 views) Exploration and production company Cluff Gold has predicted that 100,000 ounces of gold will be generated by its operations this year.Algy Cluff, chairman and chief executive of the firm, noted that 2008 saw production begin at a pair of mines in separate countries. He described last year as being a "pivotal" one, with the emphasis being shifted away from exploration as output began at the projects. Located in Cote d'Ivoire and Burkina Faso, the sites poured their first gold in March and October respectively and Mr Cluff noted that current indications support his prediction. Meanwhile, drilling has commenced at the company's flagship project in Sierra Leone, after the acquisition of a 40 per cent interest brought it fully under Cluff's control. Brazilian Mining recently announced that it intends to enter the gold mining industry and has signed a letter of intent with SD Mineradora, having observed that the sector is proving to be strong.
