Gold jewellery can make an ideal graduation gift, according to one online retailer.

Jeweller Lauren Klein is offering a ten per cent discount on purchases in order to coincide with the upcoming graduation season.

And manager Sarah Leight explained that quality items can perfectly complement the occasion.

Noting that a graduation ceremony represents a "rewarding personal and professional achievement", she stated: "Such a special occasion merits a celebratory gift that is both beautiful to wear and something that the recipient will cherish."

Among the items recommended by the company is a yellow gold honeycomb necklace pendant, while it also offers rings, bracelets and earrings.

Gianfranco Ferre recently revealed that it is producing a range of gold jewellery, with Reuters reporting that the Italian fashion brand is entering into a partnership with Damiani.

The items will feature four "themes" and the majority of the pieces being created are to be aimed at women.
