Jamaica's Olympic stars have been presented with specially-minted gold souvenirs.

The Bank of Jamaica gave coins to a number of gold-medal winners from last year's Beijing Games, Sports Jamaica reports.

Among them was Usain Bolt, who broke two individual sprint records and was part of the 4x100m relay team that set a new world best at the event.

Olivia Grange, minister of youth sports and culture, was also presented with a gold coin, as were staff on the Olympic team.

Ms Grange welcomed the mint, stating: "Through the launch of these coins, we can provide the world with a memorabilia of our historic performance in Beijing," adding that collectors are likely to be interested as they represent "a good investment and patriotic salute to our sports legends".

A ship thought to have sunk in 1746 was recently discovered off the coast of Anglesey and gold coins are among the treasures expected to be found when excavation gets underway.
