Thursday, 25th June 2009 (1130 views) An exhibition of ancient Egyptian artefacts featuring a number of gold items is set to arrive in San Francisco on Saturday.Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs will go on display at the de Young museum in Golden Gate Park, with more than 50 items from King Tut's tomb to be showcased, KTUV San Francisco reports. Among the gold pieces that visitors will get to see are a diadem that was wrapped in the bandages of the boy pharaoh, a coffinette that contained his liver, a pectoral and a scarab bracelet. Several of the items have been shown at the de Young before, when another Tutankhamun exhibit appeared there. It was one of the most successful events in the museum's history. Zahi Hawass, secretary general at Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities, commented: "I personally invite everyone to see this great exhibition so that a new generation of people will experience the history and magic of the boy king." Another gold showcase, Egypt's Sunken Treasures - The ancient cities of Alexandria region, will get underway in Japan this weekend to mark the 150th anniversary of Yokohama Port's opening.
