British jewellery firm Abbeycrest has announced that it is targeting the high-end market through the launch of three new collections.

According to the Yorkshire Post, Abbeycrest has introduced the Gorgeous Gold range in order to meet demand for more expensive products.

It includes necklaces, earrings and bracelets worth up to £900 and is aimed at females aged 30 to 40, while the Fluid collection is designed for younger women.

The third new range, known as Osare, features wedding rings, bracelets and cufflinks for men.

Executive chairman of Abbeycrest Simon Ashton was quoted as saying: "We need to shift upmarket and reflect the current trend for people to buy less jewellery, but buy higher quality items."

Meanwhile, Indian firm Malabar Gold has launched a pair of new jewellery collections, featuring 22-c products such as necklaces, earrings and bangles.

It came as the company opened its 28th retail outlet, with the latest store appearing in Dubai.
