Members of the Washington Prospectors Mining Association were on hand this weekend to help guests at the Gold Dust Days Heritage Festival try their luck at panning for gold.

The Herald Net reported that this past weekend saw two days of celebrations to honour the rich mining history of the town of Gold Bar.

A Saturday morning parade, a two-day car show, a cannon-firing demonstration from the Washington Civil War Association and live music were among the entertainment offerings at the festival, which is now in its third year.

Gold Bar, which was named for a site where railroad workers panned for gold in the Skykormish River in the late 1800s, is now home to modern-day recreational gold panners.

tripadvisor recommends that people visiting Gold Bar - which is situated in Snohomish County, Washington state - should also take a trip to nearby Wallace Falls State Park, which offers spectacular mountain views.
