The biggest collection of large, low mintage Chinese gold coins ever to be displayed in the United States will be unveiled at the American Numismatic Association (ANA) World's Fair of Money in August.

Coin News reports that pieces in the collection range in size from five ounces to one kilo and many of the coins come from mintages of 200 or less.

A highlight of the exhibition will be a 1992 proof gold one kilo Lunar New Year coin. This commemorative piece features the 12 animals of the Lunar New Year cycle from 1981 to 1992.

Only 21 of the gold coins were ever produced, the site noted.

Exhibitor Nicholas Brown said that with over 300 ounces of gold in his collection, it promises to be the "most amazing display of modern Chinese coins ever seen in the United States".

"I want people to be able to see coins they otherwise might never see in person," he added.

The ANA World's Fair of Money, which takes place in Los Angeles from August 5th to August 9th, is expected to attract between 10,000 and 12,000 visitors.
