An exhibition of items from the British Museum currently taking place in Canada holds numerous "thrills" for visitors - including various gold treasures.

This is according to Lexi Bainas of the Citizen, who describes the Treasures: The World's Cultures from the British Museum event at the Royal British Columbia Museum in Victoria as "fascinating" and "beyond belief".

The international touring exhibition features over 300 artefacts dating from the last 1.5 million years, including Incan gold treasures from Peru, gold jewellery and gold sculptures and ornaments.

Ms Bainas says: "The collection ... offers a stunning look at human civilisation, starting with Africa's first stirrings millions of years ago and spanning the globe in time and space to reach our present day."

The display is available for viewing until September 30th 2009. It is the second such collaboration between the British Museum and the Royal British Columbia Museum, with the first taking the form of an exhibition of Egyptian artefacts that opened in 2004.
