This weekend will see designers get the chance to display their latest gold jewellery collections at the Bridal Affair 2009 event in Chandigarh, India.

Orra, PC Jewellers, Gitanjali, Utssav CZ Gold Jewels, Kothari Art & Jewels, Champalal Jewellers and Divino will be among those showing off their wares at the fair, as well as companies based in Chandigarh itself.

The fair takes place on August 1st and 2nd, which show organiser Rashmi Bindra acknowledged may seem somewhat early considering that the Indian wedding season has started later in the year in the past.

However, she told the Indian Express that 2009's season will actually begin a lot sooner than usual, hence the early fair.

"A bride needs at least six months or so to put a trousseau together and she needs to stay abreast of trends," she remarked.

Jewellery specialists will be present at the event to advise engaged couples on how best to choose and buy their gold bridal pieces.

The fair will also feature live makeovers, fashion shows and a special area for bridegrooms.
