Tuesday, 25th August 2009 (3224 views) Gold watches from a private collection described as one of the finest ever to go to public auction in Las Vegas, Nevada are set to go under the hammer in October. The timepieces from the Clavius Collection are among 400 lots destined for the auction block at Bonhams & Butterfields' Salon Jewelry sale, which will be held at the Venetian hotel on October 3rd, National Jeweler reports. Included in the highlights of the collection is an 18-c gold Ulysse Nardin automatic hour repeating wristwatch, which is expected to fetch between $25,000 and $35,000 (£15,213 and £21,292). A limited edition 18-c gold fly-back chronograph wristwatch by Glashutte will also go under the hammer, with prices for the timepiece estimated at between $14,000 and $18,000. In addition, bidders will have the chance to get their hands on a Roger Dubuis-designed bi-retrograde perpetual calendar chronograph chronometer wristwatch with moon phases - although they will probably have to pay between $12,000 and $15,000 to do so. Pieces from designers including Bulgari, Van Cleef and Tiffany & Co will also be included in the sale. The Bonhams & Butterfields event will be held in conjunction with previews for the auction house's preview of its Natural History sale, which features a 66 million-year-old Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton discovered in South Dakota in 1994.
