Gold Marlon Brando watch to be sold at auctionThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Wednesday, 26th August 2009 (3259 views) A gold watch belonging to Hollywood star Marlon Brando is to be sold at auction next month. The 18-c yellow gold Vacheron Constantin wristwatch was made in 1954 and was given to Brando by Hungarian actress Zsa Zsa Gabor in the same year. A message engraved on the back of the watch reads: "To Marlon. Love Zsa Zsa, June 14 1954." It will be sold at Antiquorum's Important Collectors' Wristwatches auction in New York on September 17th. According to Ariel Adams of ViaLuxe, the watch was presented to Brando upon the release of On The Waterfront, which won the actor several awards. "Pieces like this are not only important to Vacheron Constantin collectors but also to those of Hollywood memorabilia from an arguably more romantic and simple period in American cinema," Mr Adams says. He goes on to suggest that the historical and cinematic value of the timepiece should mean that it sells for more than the estimated price of between $3,000 and $5,000 (£1,850 and £3,076).
