Wednesday, 28th October 2009 (2989 views) A recent London auction saw almost £28,000 worth of yellow gold pieces sold to successful bidders.The Jewels at South Kensington sale held by Christie's yesterday (October 27th) resulted in rare gold jewellery by the likes of Faberge, Cartier and Boucheron being snapped up by buyers. Some of the highest-selling gold items included a Chopard 18-c gold and diamond Casmir necklace that sold for £7,500, as well as a set of three Faberge gold, sapphire and diamond collar pins that went for £5,250. An 18-c gold Van Cleef & Arpels watch attracted a winning bid of £4,000, while an early 20th century gold, diamond and ruby brooch sold for £3,750. Today will see the start of a two-day auction of items from the Manuel March Collection from Son Galceran, Mallorca, which includes a rare Faberge imperial gold presentation cigarette box that Christie's estimates will sell for between £30,000 and £50,000.
