Monday, 2nd November 2009 (414 views) Local jewellery designers will display a variety of their gold and other items in Birmingham in the run-up to Christmas.A number of members of Centrepiece Jewellery - an association promoting the work of designers in the city's Jewellery Quarter - will showcase their wares at Symphony Hall between November 19th and December 23rd, the Birmingham Post reports. Cufflinks, earrings, pendants and necklaces in gold and other materials designed by 28 jewellery makers will be on display at the event. Centrepiece Jewellery's members include Abigail Fleissig, Anna de Ville, Johanna Wren, Memory Stather and Sian Hughes. The association was founded in 1997 and has previously received the support of organisations such as Groundwork, Birmingham City Council, Business Link, Brilliantly Birmingham and the Jewellery Quarter Regeneration Partnership. Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter has a history dating back more than 250 years and is currently home to about 400 businesses that operate in the jewellery sector.
